hospitals in Denpasar, they deal with around 100 victims of motorbike accidents per day. There is no driving or riding education here. So young people learn to ride the same way that dad and grand dad did. It is standard practice for locals to turn into a moving stream of traffic without looking to their right.
Tourist will often comment that they do not see many accidents. The truth is that a tourist does not know what they are looking for and therefore miss noticing accidents that have just happened.
Every time I have had to drive on the road to Gilimanuk I have seen at least 2 people dead from traffic accidents. Sadly now with more people on the roads and the use of mobile phones while riding the toll will get worse.
