I have heard those stickers blamed on tourists, whose ideas are thought to be responsible, and of course it is a two edged sword - if nobody bought them they wouldn't bother to sell them - if they didn't sell them nobody would buy them...........
However (as CBB pointed out) If you could understand some of the things the blokes, and not just young ones either, on the street say you would know that these sentiments are very common. I don't understand Balinese but I speak enough Bahasa Indonesia to understand what they are saying when they speak BI.
Please don't interpret my comment to mean that the comments are made by Javanese but not by Balinese. Balinese increasingly use BI and of course mixed groups always use it.
