I guess that it depends on what you are used to in terms of accommodation, but the renovated parts of AP Inn are a little bland.
I had the pleasure of spending some time recently with Pak Agung who owns all the land around the Pasar Agung area (KTH and the old LA Inn are part of this holding)
We looked through the rooms and they are reasonably appointed and newly fitted out.
There is also the newly finished AP Inn Apartments next door, and some of these do have balconies, but outlook is mostly restricted to the western wall and walkways of KTH.
In summary, the location is excellent if you are looking for central Kuta, but with Secret Garden, Masa, La Walon and Kuta Puri etc nearby, further investigation may be warranted.
