The story begins when my husband who was already in the pool, on the steps, pushed himself forward into the pool and felt a crunch/snap and severe pain in his shoulder.

Called a doctor to the hotel room who advised that he would need to go to hospital to have an xray as he thought that my husband may have dislocated his shoulder.

OH NO .. all I could think of was $$$ and eternally grateful that we had travel insurance.

The doctor didn't charge us for the room visit. I initially asked whether we should go to BIMC with the response of "too expensive". He suggests Siloam Hospital.

So .. taxi called and off we go.

Straight to emergency and in .. 4 doctors asking lots of questions. An xray is required with the result that there is a dislocation and that he would need to see an orthopaedic surgeon. URGGHHHH !!

We could have the surgeon called, or come back as an out patient the next day which would be cheaper. We opted to come back.

So, the next day back we are and the surgeon relocated the dislocated shoulder.

The service that we received at Siloam Hospital was 150% .. they were very attentive and would definitely go there again and recommend them if needed.

The total cost of the visit to the emergency room, xray, appointment with the surgeon and medication came to around $300. Apparently this would have been much higher if we had gone to BIMC.
