I've been there twice over the years. The first time the a lot of the park was still intact including a beautiful statue of the lost children and there were heaps of crocodiles in one section that looked like they were starving. The next time most of rides were gone, including the statue and the crocodiles, was even scarier than the first time and you had to watch where you were walking especially in the buildings.
We were told park was completed but never opened as it was built by relative of the then president, but just before opening the president lost power and so next president didn't want park to open. Interesting that it was opened for awhile as you say, makes more sense now.
