We started looking at Bukit Lawang earlier this year, and may still go next month. Our plan was to land in Medan, then spend a few days around Lake Toba, a huge inland lake, then off to the bukit to see oranguatans, over 7 days. I found tons of tour guides, the one I was talking to on Facebook, was "jungle Eddie". he is easy to find, and will send you some info on some guided tours.
