I budget for $100 a day as a single and average about $60 a day over the month on most of my trips. I don't drink much, tend to prefer eating local and not big on shopping. That amount is meals, drinks, snacks, food and drinks for the hotel room, shopping (mostly gifts for family), day trips and has included 2 nights in pool villas (around $500-ish total there) but not my main accom.
If I didn't include the villa cost in that, I'd be closer to $40 a day on average.
