I booked Amed Beach Resort with a booking agency knowing full well it would not really be a "resort" since it was less than $50 a night and only has 5 rooms.
I was a little apprehensive however when we drove down a lane in Jemeluk and parked on what I took to be a building site. On the old wall in front of was a tatty old sign hanging down off one nail with the hotel name. We had to access the hotel by balancing along the sea wall because it was high tide so no beach. I thought it would be hard to leave and find somewhere else since the staff had already carried our bags in and I was pretty sure, well absolutely certain really, that we would not be able to get back along that sea wall unaided!
Now I am sitting on my beautiful soft, curtained bed in my gorgeously spotless room with its lovely new bathroom looking over the pool which is 10 steps from my door and the ocean which is 10 steps more. Since there is no road in really there is nary a motorbike to be heard. What a little paradise!
Oh, the building site turned out to be the local soccer pitch...silly me.
