My wife is from a small village close by Tirta Empul ( which means holy water springing from the ground ). As a matter of fact, I met her at Tirta Empul almost 20 years ago and our first daughter's name is Tirta. I've been to many temple ceremonies in Tirta Empul - the biggest and most colorful is usually in October. It is quite a sight to see. There are many processions from towns close by and each one has their own gamelan band. The women ( and men )are dressed colorfully and the women carry HUGE offerings. During the rest of the year, there are occasionally smaller ceremonies and if you are dressed properly, you can partake. Ask someone there who speaks English to help you - they will be delighted !!
