I was there for Nyepi Day last year and we were told the entire length of Jl Legian was closing for the parade. We were staying behind The Haven, close to the corner of Jl Double six/Jl Legian so booked a table at The Haven for a good viewing spot. Had a lovely dinner and a few drinks from say 7 till 9ish, no movement out front except for a lot of tourists lining the footpaths. I guess we stayed out until about 10.30 then back to hotel. Quite a good atmosphere in the restaurant and on the street but no Ogoh Ogoh?? in sight. Spoke with a few people staying at our accommodation next day at breakfast, they were out till midnight and saw nothing. Be warned, day before quite a few spas, restaurants and shops were closed and also for probably 2 or 3 days after Nyepi they were still closed. No huge problem for me cos I don't mind walking but I had my 86 year old mother with me so bit of a problem for her. Hoping this helps.
