The brochures, the travel guides all paint a picture of Kuta beach as a pristine tropical delight. Frequent travellers and people who haunt travel forums know that its not but for a first timer who's research has been travel agents, Qantas brochures and the Lonely Planet are going to be very disappointed. Telling people to go elsewhere when they thought they were turning up for a 5 day laze on a beautiful, conveniently located beach is beside the point IMO.
