Cantik (pron Chantik - remember any words that start with C in indonesia is pron as CH)
... so Cantik means beautiful (you use it for a female, not male)
Ganteng (pron Guntung) means handsome (you use it for a male, not female).
Regarding the use of "bagus", it can be used in a variety of ways,
basically anything / anyone can be bagus (good), but if someone asks you
"how are you ?", as noted already, Baik (sounds like bike) is the usual local response, but you can say bagus if you like.
