Left Sydney Saturday on Garuda. 8 ladies. Bit of a line in Sydney for the VOA but I would rather line up in Sydney when everyone is excited and talks to each other about Bali. Better than lining up in Denpasar when everyone is tired after the flight and just wants to get to the hotel. Love the Customs on board the flight. New airport very good, missed the luggage touts at the luggage collection. The drivers now meet you outside. We were ushered straight through to the baggage collection, changed our dollars at the airport for 10,000. By the time we rounded up our bags, changed the money and got in the mini bus an hour had gone. The driver was funny, he kept counting us. One of the "girls" booked Sekuta Condos at Sanur through a voucher for $200 per room for 7 nights. I wasn't expecting much but have been pleasantly surprised. Our one bedroom is HUGE, with everything you could expect. Very clean and well set up. King bed in the main bedroom and a sofa couch in the lounge. Old TV though which doesn't worry me because I never turn it on. Breakfast basic but good. We paid $60 each for airport transfer and 7 breakfasts. Pool is nice and just big enough for a lazy swim. The condo is at the back of Sanur west of the main highway, very quiet, which doesn't worry us. It costs us $2.50 for a cab around the area and between 4 of us this is cheap transport. Ate the first night at Duck Nuts. Very ordinary. Second night ate at Cinnamon, which everyone enjoyed. Had a facial and massage for $45 at Asian Spa,which we wouldn't recommend. The girl I had didn't speak much English and when I asked her to go easy on my stomach she said "ah.. Baby". This was a compliment as I am in my mid sixties!! Roads don't seem as busy as May last year, but the new bridge system is open and the bypass around the Sanur area so I think this has made a difference. Aussie dollar varies from 10300 to 10900 on the street. It is certainly different travelling with 7 other ladies. It is like trying to heard a bunch of cats. But lots of fun.
