Larry, you make me blush (lol) ... thank you :-)

Some other things to do around Candidasa ...

Stop off before you get to Candidasa (or go back another day while staying in CD) at the Babi Guling shop just down the Tenganan road a little on the left side, and pick up Rp 10,000 min worth of piggy (they sell in portions of Rp10k, Rp20k etc). You will see on the right the Candi Bakery (as you drive towards Tenganan) - the Babi Guling shop is just past this on the left side. They have it fresh off the piggy (no spices), or some is made up ready with local spices (hot'ish). Yum ! (this is a snack to carry, or try on the spot). The Candi Bakery also has a shop in town (next to GoGo Silvershop) - at both you can buy nice bread and some cakes / buns etc.

Have a walk around (all the way around) the Lagoon - nice. The Candidasa Temple (opposite the Lagoon) is currently under reconstruction, we have seen the plans, and it is going to look great when finished.

I already talked about restaurants, but if you are hanging out for a really nice coffee, go to Le Zat (restaurant at the sea view end of Ashyana Hotel).

Regarding another nice drive and lunch out of CD, head towards Amlapura, but go around via the rice terraces (I think this is along Jl Raya Bungaya) and then head towards (north of Amlapura city) to a restaurant called Bali Asli ... run by an Australian (Penelope / Penny), which has great food and if the clouds are clear'ish, a great view across more rice terraces to Mt Agung - spectacular ! (this can be your lunch stop). Oh, you will love the view from the toilets - I say no more !

After this stop, head back west, driving towards Sideman, and even stop at Pondok Bukit Putung Restaurant (in Selat area) ... just for a drink, the food not so good, just for a sitting down view. This is along Jl Kuncaragiri. Then wiggle you way down the hills (some sections are very steep) where you can stop at a couple of places to take in the views (from Candidasa to Padang Bai) - one where you will get mobbed by some kids and mums selling small baskets that the father and family make back at a small shop close by, and one where the cows could be - it has 2 small gazebos on the land (on your right) - just a nice place to sop and enjoy the views. And then once at the bottom, you come out through Selumbung ... then out onto Jl Raya Manggis, turn left (at the Manggis statue) and head back into Candidasa.

You will find most of these places I'm talking about on google maps - maybe print it off and ask your driver.

Enjoy the trip !

Regards, Geoff (& Louise)
