While I am bias towards the mid East Coast area of Bali (live in Candidasa), if you have done Bloo Lagoon, and even the small islands off from Candidasa, and even around at White Sand Beach (2 turtles spotted yesterday during snorkelling), and even Amed, Tulamben etc, IF are up for a big trip (either get up there and stay a couple of nights, or stop for a night on the way up and then one night up there), head to Permuteran - and in particular Menjungan Island (we are talking the top left corner of Bali).

This would have to be the best place I have ever been for snorkelling. You go over on a boat, you walk into the water off the beaches, all you have to do is duck your head under at waist height, and it's like a fish tank with a thousand different fish - amazing !

If you then swim out to the drop off / underwater cliff, more fish again hanging around the edge and down the wall ... really nice !

It's a bit of a hike to get up that way, but it is worth it.

Enjoy !

* another place already suggested - Nusa Penida - is great also, been over there but not for snorkelling ... but if you are up for a dive, the Sun Fish are a bit weird looking, and apparently great to have a dive with. Also over there you can see big Manta Rays (not sure about snorkelling with them though, although people do dive with them) - but we saw many of them doing their rolls right close to the surface, so you see their backs and then their big white tummy - very nice !
