I've had rotten weather in Port Douglas and other parts of tropical Queensland had items stolen /or taken by mistake with cleaners out of our room, (never got an apology) got treated like lepers when I reported it to the police about break free holidays and resorts ,and at the gold coast it never stopped raining my daughter was also really sick, so then we decided not to holiday in Australia again as IMHO they don't know how to treat tourists. (sorry) Just my opinion. We went to Bali got ripped off on out first trip by a money changer in a leather shop in Kuta the wife got food poisoning the second day , she was so bad we called her volcano butt as we had to return quick style from our Kintamani trip as she was so ill, we never went back for 5 years until volcano butt forced us to go back again and now we have been 19 times so I can appreciate how you feel and would suggest that you might leave it for a few years until your wee ones get a bit older and then give it another go. You can get ripped off anywhere in the world and I'm sure me saying it does't make you feel better about Bali but these experiences although sickening at the time do make us all more street wise.
