We were there in October and my husband was also violently ill. I felt really nauseous and had an upset tummy but wasn't wedded to the porcelain like him. Lasted a day and a half and then we were fine.
We suspected it was the crap (possibly literally) in the sea water at Kuta beach - hubby had been surfing and it came on that night. We had also had dinner at a popular restaurant but I've never heard anyone complain of sickness from there and I really don't think it was that.
Might get some antibiotics next time as it was the sickest we've been in Bali in 20 years.
