Working with young adults with disabilities and some exp with autism the two places we stayed dec/jan could be suitable. Depending on expectation, Sarinande Beach Hotel super deluxe rooms, newly renovated were a good size, basic, clean and we paid $65pn, pool and pool area was nice, quiet, peaceful and maybe 10 pool beds and always half of them were available during our stay, 150m walk to the beach, also walk through and come out at the back of Oberoi hotel is about 15 min and then a short walk to many rest.
In Sanur we stayed at the Tamukami Hotel, nice big rooms, lovely pool and pool area, peaceful, tranquil setting, set back from the road, fabulous selection of restaurants nearby, easy walk through to the beach from Sands.
Both I think are 3 star hotels, Tamukami def nicer, but would recommend both.
Also in Sanur we stayed at (couple of years ago) Gardenia Boutique Guesthouse, which I think is 2 star, but I loved it I think the 2br villa (which is adjoining rooms) was under $100 breakfast was choice of 3 options but beautiful food, away from main street, but only a 20 min walk and still plenty around, beautiful little oasis, small pool, but with only 7(? I think) rooms nice and quiet.
All 3 had good on site rest for when going out is not an option.
Staff were fabulous
Small and gardens gave a peaceful calming affect, nothing felt crowded.
But as I am sure you know it's always a surprise to see how your choice is going to pan out! Good luck, hope it's a fabulous adventure.
