Imam Samudra changed his story several times. In the earliest interrogation, he said that he had reconnoitred the Sari Club on a previous night and noticed many fit young men with short hair entering the Sari Club. He assumed that these men were US sailors. When he was told that there were no US sailors in the club, he changed his story.
In fact, the fit young men with short hair were sportsmen celebrating the end of the sporting season.
