I was amazed at how much Nusa Dua had expanded last trip. Some friends were staying at Benoa, and that quiet road up to the point is lined with massive hotels and time shares. Our friends loved it, enjoyed the restaurants, and exploring around the area. Quite a bit of work going on (isn't there everywhere), but my thought is that the area is monopoly of very large hotels.
Sanur, while getting busier all the time, is still less hectic than the west coast. Another friend was staying at Puri Santrian, and we visited her often and I have a new appreciation of this medium sized hotel. You have a mile of cafes and restos within 10 minutes walk, but within this hotels grounds, very relaxed.
As said, nip up to Candi Dasa for a few days to break the trip up, only a few hours from Sanur.
