I have been to both the Safari Park and the Zoo with little kids.
We have had wonderful days there and both a highly recommended.
We even book before we go to Bali with Tic Bali Holidays and pay a small deposit through paypal and the remainder in Bali.
I'd recommend getting a private car to the safari park as the bus's hours don't allow you enough time to explore.
I've never seen animal cruelty or seen anything that would stop me from taking my children to either park.
