i overstayed by 1 day too in May 2012 (so it was at the old airport)
i was aware that i had to pay a fee. it was at 4am in the morning before a 6am air asia flight to KL. i was happy to pay the fee of rp200,000 per day (from memory) but i also insisted on a receipt.
so off we went (the VOA officer and I) to a nearby office inside the airport and woke up the employee there who was having a nap so he could find the official book to give me a receipt!
