Well the holiday is over for this year but what a wonderful 2 weeks we had.
Left Melbourne on a cold Friday morning (23 August) and flew with Garuda to Denpasar.
The group consisted of hubby, me and four friends (3 of who were first timers to Bali - L, S, G & M). The other member of our group our cousin had flown in 2 days earlier.
Our driver Nyoman was waiting at the airport with 2 vans to take the 6 of us and all of our luggage.
We were staying at the Santika Beach Resort for the 10th time and we arrived and checked in early in the afternoon.
Hubby and 2 friends headed off to Alta Moda as G wanted to look at the material and get some tailoring done. Hubby already had the material from home. So after a trip to Alta Moda they were off to see our tailor in Legian. L, S and I had a relaxing swim while they were out. I don't think a holiday has started until the first swim.
That night a quick dinner at Queens Indian outside the Dynasty and then we all had an early night. Very tired from a 4am get up in Melbourne.
Saturday 5 of us went to Jari Menari for massage - as usual it was an awesome experience.
Sunday - we went to Sanur and hubby, M & S went parasailing. We girls sat and had a relaxing drink and took videos the parasailers.
Monday 26th was my hubby's 60th birthday and given the health issues he had last year (6 heart bypasses) it was great to be away and celebtrate the day. The butlers at the Santika presented him with a birthday cake which was lovely and we shared it with the staff.
For dinner that night we went to Chandi and had a fabulous time. A birthday desert at Chandi and another round of happy birthday was sung.
Tuesday we went to Tanah Lot watched the sunset and had dinner there. Another round of happy birthday was sung by the wandering minstrels. We paid them to go away after several verses lol.
Lots of shopping, relaxing and then it was Friday 30th and L and S were going home that evening. Saturday our cousin left and on Sunday G & M flew home.
We then had 5 relaxing days by ourselves - walked, swam, shoppped and ate.
Hubby had some crowns done at 911 by Dr Rudy and as always he was happy with the result.
The Santika closes next month for refurbishment for 2 years so we will have to find another venue to stay.
Flight home with Garuda was great - you can't beat executive class.
Reality has kicked in and we are now back to work and have to start saving for the next adventure.
