Bali ads follow me

It feels strange to have ads for Bali accommodation spring up when I'm reading a sports report on Irish sports on an Irish site. It happens to me when I am reading W.A. news sites also and, not surprisingly when I'm reading Jakarta Post, it also happens.

How does this happen? I'm puzzled more than slightly; maybe a little paranoid I suppose at the idea of my'mail' being read.
