... is more than a normal WEEK'S salary for most local staff. A full time employee earns between Rp1.2 and 1.5 million a month. Rp500.000 per day is way over the top.

A more-than-reasonable salary for casual staff would be Rp200.000 for a 12 hour day.

Even if they only work 15 days a month, that's still 3 million a month, more than double the normal salary.
