Some time ago we were in the same position. We were run into on our bike by another two who were in the wrong, but no police involved.
We accompanied the local to the hospital and assumed he was getting treatment. Went back the next day and he was still there but hadn't received any treatment, not even had blood cleaned off him. We asked why and were give a list of medicines to get from the chemist. We did this. We also were told he had no money for food which we purchased too. We visited again with more food and were told he was making a good recovery.As this was some years ago I'm not sure if its the same today.
