On what the Cops and the local come up with as compo, bike has to be fixed maybe he can not work. Fines that the cops impose.
It is not pretty even if you have insurance, if he is the bread winner can decides opps can not work then wages have to be met. i know of a case were i guy hit another bike (local) cost him $2K then they wanted more couldn't leave country ended costing over $10K for a little bingle.
Best thing for him to do is leg it out of the country if they are not holding him. Pay what he feels he can tell them no problems not going anywhere and exit stage left.
