I think it always pays to check the condition of your currency before you leave the bank at home. I had a hundred dollar note in June and it had writing on it, no way was any money changer in Bali prepared to take it, I left it till I got to Melbourne Tullamarine to purchase duty free and low and behold the lady behind the desk took one look at it and refused it also because of the writing on it. Good old woolies never battered an eyelid when I presented it the next day at the checkout.
