I rang Virgin every few days and got the same from them- they are waiting on Denapasar officials to give them a new time slot I believe. Anyway I got sick of waiting on them to change it so after securing extended accommodation and getting approved extra holidays for hubby I paid the fare difference fee to go a week earlier thus avoiding all the closure days!
Virgin did agree after much pressure to drop the booking and flight change fees so perhaps AA will too and you might be better off changing to fly the day earlier?
Anyway it all worked out well for me- got some fab accomm thanks to a top bloke in Bali and I get 6 extra nights there!
