So finally get back to this. We arrived in Ubud and this is where I had the best time. We stayed at Bali Spirit and it was really nice. However if you don't like stairs its not the place for you. My only downer is that its a bit of trek to town or you have to wait for the bus. The bus has regular free rides and its only like a $1.50 if the trip is outside their times. It just takes a little away from being spontaneous and heading for a stroll down the street or to the Quiki Mart. Apart from that the facilities are great, the staff were really friendly. Agung is awesome. Most helpful to all of us. The girls organised a bike ride. I've done a couple before but tagged along. They were so happy that they had arranged for a "downhill" bike ride. they aren't the fittest so wanted a nice easy ride around the villages. I couldn't help but laugh because if your going to go "downhill" don't you to go "uphill" first. Picked up at hotel and off we go. No driving uphill so kinda figured we would be having some uphill rides. Usual stop at rice paddy and info given. then came the "uphill"...hahaha the whinging begins. Anyway 1 broker their bike after an hour so she quit. The other one persevered but every time we came to an incline reminded us that she had booked a "downhill ride". I just enjoy riding out the quiet streets and taking in the countryside. A bike ride is definite must do for everyone. So after our 3 hour journey a bintang was in order and was very much enjoyed. That afternoon we did the cooking class at the hotel. Wouldn't really call it a class but a demonstration. But gave us a chance to enjoy a Bintang and watch the food be cooked. It was about $25 so all is well and we got to eat all the food for dinner that evening. The next day the girls went to Chez Montique Jewellery making. They loved it. They all made different penadants and they were awesome. Even Miss 17 who is hard to impress said it was great. Meanwhile I had arranged to a 3 hour Stress Management Course through the Bali spirit Hotel. Now I can't remember the "guru's" name which I am very sad about but I have to say this wsa the highlight of my trip. Think it will become a yearly thing to complete on my trips now. I spent 3 hours doing laughter therapy, chanting, meditating, dancing and crying. Wow it was really amazing. I am continuing to chant every day and had no idea just how good laughter is for you both physically and emotionally. Little harder to do at home and for some reason my kids think I've gone made but hey.....who cares if it works. Agung was an absolute champion and got us into dinner at Cafe Wayan as we hadn't booked and there was a line up so we were so very greatful. Food was great and a great atmosphere. This was supposed to be our "relaxation time" of lying around the pool drinking cocktails and reading books. Think we did about 2 hours of that in 3 days. Oh well gotta do what you can when you can. Next stop Melasti at Legian for our final 5 days. Let's just say Miss 17 x 2 were most anxious to hit the shops.
