I attempted to post a series of HNR's during our recent holiday in Bali. However our holiday was too much fun so I only managed two efforts. With my husband, his parents and our son we had all headed to Sanur and had rented a private villa. Just before we left Australia we found out that my Father In Law (FIL) and the villa owner were school mates from Merredin in country Western Australia.
We stayed in this villa

it cost $120 per night. My Mother In Law and I have compiled a comprehensive list of places to see and restaurants to visit. We had gleaned all this information from internet forums.
Upon our arrival our host Ron asked me to put my list away and trust him for a few days. We only ended up eating in two restaurants that were on our original list and to be honest both were a let down. The list below is of some of the great places we dined.

Warung Muslim on Jalan Danau Poso.
Man Fridays English Fish Shop (opposite Warung Muslim)
The Fire Station (on Danau Poso)
Tities Warung (on Semawang Beach.)
Bona Ventura (seafood opposite Mercure)
SaFaRe ( Italian in the south of Sanur) This was the first time I had seen a pizza with rocket salad on top of it. It was great.
Sweet Magnolia (on Mertasari Beach)
Basilico (wonderful italian style on the beach)
Bon Marche (French on Danau Poso)
The Bali Senia for Sunday roast (this place may not suit many people but the food is good old fashioned generous serves of great food)
Blue Sky BBG (really is worth a visit)
Parayangan (great local food with the ox tail soup being a stand out)
We dined with the locals on Serangan Island. The fish there was wonderful.
Tities Warung on Semawang beach was also great
I would recommend any of the above places.

Different things we did. My son went swimming with the sharks just off Sanur. He loved it.

As a family we did a fruit carving course in southern Sanur.

Surpisingly it was not all that difficult. (the free cocktails did make the day a bit more fun.

Plus a pleasant morning bike ride around the rice fields in Sanur ( I had never seen them mentioned on any travel forum).

This was a great day with a young Balinese man named Agung.

A trip to Candi Dasa for lunch at Le Zat, followed by a few drinks at Vincents and then a return to Sanur to listen to the Sumatran band at Linga Longa.
All up it was a wonderful time. It seems we will be returning within 6 months.
Cheers J.
