We went on a motorbike tour on Wednesday up to the beautiful Lake Bratan, a group of 7 it was a great day and is always a great place to visit. However, what was to be the highlight of the day for me was to go for lunch at Pacung Indah restaurant, I hadn't been there for 5 years and every year I have said I'm going to go back there and havn't made it.
We arrived at 11.15am to beat the rush of the buses filled with tourists and we thought, Great we are the first ones here. Best views, everyone settled, menus handed out and then we wait & wait & wait. We flag down a waitress " Oh she said would you like drinks?" We gave our orders and waited 15 minutes for our drinks, then the food arrived without too much of a problem, the food was just ok but the chips on the side where made from green potatoes :-) Anyway a couple of ladies on the ride only had a light meal as they thought they may have desert and told the waiter that they would hold onto a menu for desert and the waiter agreed.
We were all sitting there talking about the ride & enjoying the fabulous views when our tour guide had to go and find a waiter to ask for more drinks and to please clean the plates from the tables as 30 minutes had passed. The second lot of drinks arrived & next minute a waiter arrived with the bill and placed it on the table in front of us! The ladies said we would like to have dessert, "Oh you like dessert, said the waiter" "Yes please" we waited & waited & waited and 25 minutes had passed and not a waiter to be seen.
On that note because we had already exceeded our lunch break on the tour & the buses were starting to arrive, we all got up and paid the bill and left.
I was so disappointed at the lack of care of the staff and the appalling service and I'm so pleased to have my fond memories of the place from 5 years ago where the service & food was exceptional.
Its so sad to see a place that was so popular become run down like this and it seems that it's nothing more than a bus depot now for tourists arriving in droves for a buffet lunch.
Thanks for the views and the past memories Pacung Indah but I don't think we will be back and our tour guide said he will be taking his group elsewhere for lunch and that he went there on recommendation of a tourist.
