If your kids are a bit older, moving is not as hard. In fact, we usually do move around as it gives everyone somewhere new to explore. When my kids were little though, this was a hassle.

I'd stay in Legian instead of at the Dynasty. Even though Legian and Kuta are close to one another, you'll save alot of time in traffic if you stay in both areas. There are good restaurants and shopping in both places so you can avoid the traffic by walking to restaurants and shopping instead of taking a taxi.

My last trip to Bali I stayed in 4 different hotels for my last 7 nights. The intention was to see what each hotel was like but it was fun to explore each neighbourhood without getting in taxis. We stayed at the Kartika Plaza, The Stones, The Royal Beach Hotel (the old Sofitel) and The Seminyak Hotel. I had my 14 year old daughter with me and she enjoyed the variety.

If you are adventurous and don't mind moving, I would recommend it. If on the other hand, you really need a holiday, best to not move too much.

Have fun!
