and I have the added expense of flying from Brisbane. I always book with Virgin as I have a frequent flyer card and every 3rd trip get one way free. I stay at cheap places like the Villarisi in Legian. Check out their web page, book and pay via paypal and you get it cheaper than booking with an agent. Aircon room, pool, and breaky included. I have always checked out cheap accomodation as this is the only way I can afford to go away. I know the feeling of HAVING to travel cheap as I am the bread winner with a sick husband who does not work and I still have a morthahe. Hope that you find something great.
