AA does not like to pay bills or give refunds. They have modelled themselves on Ryan Air. Ryan Air is famous for creating controversy in order to attract publicity.

The LCCT is owned by the Malaysian Government. Several years ago AA refused to pay rent for the LCCT for spurious reasons. The rent arrears built up to about 40m MYR. The Malaysian Government demanded that the rent be paid. In an Asian face saving exercise, AA paid the rent outstanding and the Malaysian Government gave AA 40m MYR to attract tourists to Malaysia.

AA is well connected to the Malaysian Government, as several Malaysian Government bodies are investors in AA.
