Free pickup from airport. Is driver paid

I've often wondered if the drivers that collect us from the airport actually get paid by the hotel?

We always get free pickup from airport and dropped off to Bali garden hotel.

Does the hotel pay them? Or do they do it so they can try and sell their services to the tourists for future transport during their stay?
