Depending on the location of the villa, it will be 5 to 10 minutes in a taxi to central Seminyak.
If the villa is located in the part of Umalas closer to jalan Petitenget (Umalas I), then it's a 10 minute walk to upmarket restaurants like Metis, Sarong, Mama San, etc and some smaller cafes and warungs that have opened recently in that area.
However, if it's in Umalas II or jalan Bumbak, there are only a few smaller cafes in that area, and definitely no boutiques for shopping.
It's kind of in the middle of nowhere and you would need a driver, or constantly be calling taxis. Some villas in that area do provide a driver as part of the package or as an extra charge.
