For the purists...I believe that AA is the "code" for American Airlines, nothing to do with AirAsia (Indonesian or Malaysian), which operates short haul aircraft(lucky Perthites) or AirAsiaX which service the East Coast operating long haul aircraft, and has to fly in and out of KL......
I guess when you provide that many "updates" on AirAsia operations, it's saves time to use AA.....;-)
