yep, that was the best I could do, and believe me, I was stubborn, refusing to get out of the car. As our driver had not visited the cemetery for a few years, he offered to contribute to the cost, which he did. I guess it also paid for our "minder" as well. And we were at the cemetery for around 1 1/2 hours. I don't know if they charged 100,000 per person, or the 300,000 was the cost irrespective of number of people.

Our minder also spent a lot of time explaining the traditions etc of the cemetery, and he carried my camera gear and was generally very helpful. I got nearly all the photos I wanted (except close-ups of the newest body as I was too respectful to poke my camera into the bamboo cage).

If I put a time on the cost: the minder met us at about 7.30am as I was taking photos of veggie growers etc. He stayed with us until about 11am when we left Trunyan. We got in the boat around 9ish and got back to Trunyan village just before 11. So - one minder 3.5 hours, the boat with 2 rowers nearly 2 hours + the cemetery donation. And we had no hassles, no threats, no worries. Once we had settled the price, we were not asked for more. And I learned a lot too. So I'm very glad we went.

We were also been offered a boat from the other side of the lake, when we visited the original Batur temple, they wanted 600,000 per boat (no doubt a lower price could have been negotiated).
