I saw it as a tv drama with a story, a script, characters and roles and in that genre I think it was successful. It was interesting, entertaining and did well in the ratings. It ticked all the boxes IMO. And also IMO, anyone looking for the answer from a tabloid type tv show is looking in the wrong place.
