I got my August/September flights in February and had been on the look out for them since last December. Last year's October flights were picked up the previous January.
I monitor them for months till I find them at a price I'm happy with and then grab them before they go. I've found this year that there haven't been as many cheap sale prices as there were last year and have also noticed that all the flights I've been on the last couple of years have been full with few if any spare seats.
I got my flights for this year for around $830 return from Sydney with Garuda. I have noticed that ever since then, the prices have hovered between $1000-1300 since then. Just checked and if I booked my exact flights today, it would be $1200 and it has marked next to it "on sale".
Seems booking earlier rather than later gives the best price lately.
