Bali Blog day 8, rain. rain. rain. Thunder cracking right above on Thursday night. VS wanted me to see the dent on the ceiling of her bed where she hit it with each crack. Flooding everywhere.
Tried to pay for Villa with credit cards - no satellite ...'but you must pay' was the reply. Our reply 'how' ?? 'Go to ATM'..we did some quick calculations ...mmm $20-25 to pull that cash out plus conversion fees. No way!! About one hour later after trying and retrying ..success. The Ava Villas are gorgeous - really couldn't fault them in any way. Booked into new villa - Madhya Villa -again just beautiful. Bliss again- Opposite W retreat.
Off to Airport to pick Husband- D, PS (VS husband) S fresh from 3 weeks in the bush- fishing at the Kimberleys.
DEAR GOD! .... They looked like the Leyland Brothers only super feral.
VS waving madly - i have my hands over my face!
Beards. hair on ears and up noses. i had warned D if not groomed when arrive in Bali, i would commence my own non grooming regime. I fear, i am too vain to do this! Poor s has been severely attacked by sandflies. Hundreds of bites. A bad one on foot he has scratched raw - thank good for the betadine bandaids in Bali!!
Returned to Villa -where they quickly groomed and we retired to Ultimo (again!)
Interesting fact I learnt whilst having lunch at Bali Deli - Balinese cover their face with a hand or tissue when they use a tooth pick. Impolite otherwise. We had earlier discussed with Putu that our loved ones can multi task this chore. they pick and chat. Suddenly after a lovely meal - yep you guessed it ! My husband and another accomplice are digging into their teeth with the toothpick, sans coverage. Putu's face was priceless. Another interesting fact this dumb broad learnt - Bali Deli has an outside area with Bales! Been so many times and missed this fact ...idiotL Bit like walking through the wardrobe and discovering Narnia!!
Lolita has not been sighted again - maybe she has all her hankies at the laundry?
Spent a sat afternoon at The Deck watching footy. D most impressed as i never watch footy. So gained some brownie points. Haven't got the heart to tell him i was actually watching the fashion channel through the window the whole time. He was happy as his Power won.
Yuni -Happy Tailor arrived to measure the gentlemen for shirts. She is so delightful and funny. quickly making jokes with the menfolk. She also has dogs and dresses them. Photos being shown and lots of laughter.
Went to Mantra for drinks that night - very interesting setting.Hundreds of pictures on the wall. Then off to bale udang mang engking for dinner - thought we had booked but turns out we had booked on the waiting list!!! Had to wait about 30 minutes but i love this place. Big bale with fish swimming underneath. Gorgeous setting. A big indonesian favourite. So don't expect an array of cocktails etc. Can get good mocktails, bintang and hatten wine by the glass. Food is amazing and prices are reasonably cheap. Spent rest of evening relaxing by the pool.
