Bali - day 1. Travelled alot of times to Bali . Travelling with a girlfriend 'VS' through wet and cold Adelaide to airport. Husbands fishing up north and will meet us in one week. Arrive early for checkin. Wheel up to counter to be greeted by 'checkin guy'. In Adelaide - no seat allocation allowed until checkin.
Me -Can we please be up front away from children.
Checkin guy- Nope, sorry can't change your seats (since when??).
Me- Please?
Check in Guy - no, children spread out round plane and it is full....sorry.
Hands us our boarding passes with a sinister smile.
Got seat 26a & b
Through security scanner ....Hi Madam - selected randomly, can you step this way for scan
Through customs ..Hi Madam - selected randomly, can you step in body scanner.
Into plane - yep we got the 'Nose Bleeders - Child Screamers' section. Now i love children - i really really do but I am not kidding - high pitched screaming for 5 hours. Some seat kicking, little hands through seats. Spread out around plane my a$%e!! More like spread out around me! Totally heaven.
I now have 'check-in guy' at the top of my hit list!!
Arrived in Customs ...semi chaotic but not to bad. Out to be greeted by Lovely Indonesian friends
Traffic shocking but arrival at Villa bliss ...Ava Villa behind Ultimo - well what i say. ...5 star luxury and it is 35 degrees with no rain.
Dinner at Ultimo -delicious as always. Seafood salad, bintang, bintang and Bintang...yum!
Next day - wonderful Yuni from Happy Tailor Bali arrives at Villa. we are measured for leather jackets, lace dress, and work trousers. Also order a formal dress for a girlfriend's daughter - samples of material cover the bed. Yuni is totally fluent in English which made life very easy. Has a facebook page 'Happy Tailor Bali'.
Have a massage at Villa. whilst on massage table I am wondering why Sari is playing around with the back legs (folding legs) of table! Is it broken? crooked? then suddenly stops and massage continues...only to be awoken by my own snoring. Oops. Sari's husband comes to collect her and informs us there was just an earthquake. VS was in the pool and never felt a thing! Sari said she never felt it either.
Then it was off to Tanah lot and Echo Beach. On the way, we stopped at Deus for tshirts as gifts to take home. VS whilst at Tanoh Lot, thought holding a snake would be good fun. Yes folks -she actually sat for what felt like an eternity with the BIGGEST python snake. 2 men had to drag it over for photos. i don't understand the want to do this?? It started to wrap around her legs whilst photos were taken. I tried to hide in corners but one corner had a really big bat hanging upside down. Another had a large Toucan thing and other had a bloody great Owl !! We had lunch at Echo Beach Cafe, Lovely Nasi Goreng and reasonably cheap. Spent that evening at Chandi where yours truly enjoyed a substantial number of Bintangs and Cocktails plus a tasting platter which was super yummy to recover from my encounter with the python.
