villiage life and school

My kids are regular complainers about how tough life is.
We have heard about somewhere you can visit children at school and a local village. We'd like to visit to see how simple life can be, and that a good life isn't necessarily one with 24 hour computer time without chores. Preferably somewhere not overly touristy.

Any suggestions of where we could visit or who we could contact? We are staying at the Dynasty but are happy to travel.

We are very happy to bring some school supplies etc.. too...
Our kids (who are actually lovely! - just a tad ungrateful!!) are boys aged 9 and 11.
