Many were very likely employed on legal work permits when the need was there a number of years ago. Over the last 5 or 10 years hundreds if not thousands of local Indonesians have graduated from the tourism university and many are looking for work and experience so it's highly unlikely that a company would employ expats now as it costs around1.500USD for the permit plus all the visa runs that go with it. Have a go but don't hold your breath!
