Thanks for all the replies but just to be sure called Qantas , the guy there advised only 1 bag per person but wasn't very clear. when I questioned this he got grumpy and hung up.
Contacted Jetstar via livechat and they advised multiple bags per person as long as doesn't exceed 30 kg.
Hopefully sorted now but won't be surprised if I turn up at the airport and they advise only 1 bag per person!
