only 2 days til its all over :(
Flight: AA from perth - great as usual, no complaints, on time, pleasant service.
Bali Airport: Visa On arrival and Immigration, got through fairly quick, only waiting time was for luggage.
Hotel: Bali Dynasty - our 2nd time here. Children ages 10,7 n 5. Kids club great, Handy when they have movie nights every sat and Thursday.
Breakfast: best ive had in bali at dynasty. fluffy pancakes, pork bacon etc
Favourite eat: this trip have been recommended to try ChunkyChunks. Its on Benesari lane off poppies 2. the easiest way to find this is to go on legian street, find the Akerdami Hotel and cut through the underground carpark (only a short walk) and once at end of carpark its directly on your left. OMG food was to die for. Portuguese style meat on skewers. meat just soo flavoursome and tender. choice of beef, pork and chicken. my fave is the beef in the garlic marinade and the best garlic bread ever - made with home made Panini. Hubby had the burger which is served using the homemade Panini bread, he says best burger hes ever had. this place has only been running for 7 weeks. I went back and had ribs and they are the meatiest Ive had in bali and the best most tastiest marinade.
The young owner is Portuguese and you can see he has so much pride in providing good food.
My other favourite place is in Kuta
its an Italian restaurant called Bella Italia. Found this place last October. Word must be getting out as this place was busier than it was in October. Food is beautiful. Pizza is divine. You can try a sample of pizza as you enter the place. soooo yummy. This place is on the main strip Jl Kartika Plaza, on the same side as waterbom, near the blue lobster.
Other places
Kuta Plaza Restaurant - yummy and very cheap chinese! we were the only westerners in here so the chinese tourists like to take our photos. my hubbys fave is whole roast duck for $16 and I like the salt n pepper squid for about $4.80
Il Cielo - opposite dynasty, very nice Italian restaurant first time tried it, my fave is still bella italia, but this one is pretty nice too.
Grace Kellys - at dynasty - great pub style food
Burger king - much rather this than the hungry jacks at home
Flap jacks - best best best oreo milk shake, crepes however aren't as good as they were 2 years ago, they keep making them too crispy and their creamy sauce has changed.
DOLPHINS - went to Dolphin lodge for this experience. It was the most beautiful experience Ive ever had. the dolphin we had was called Ricky Martin. He was so beautiful. We got to pat him, kiss him, he kissed us, he danced with us, he smiled and said hello to us. he was very happy and cooperative. Spent around 40 mins interacting with him, and they had a staff member pick up our camera and video camera without us asking and he filmed and captured the most amazing moments with our interaction. I was so thankful to have this experience.
Sunset Dinner Cruise - Our family of 5 went with another family of 5 and we loved it! sadly there was no sunset as it had rained and thundered lol.. but we still had the best time. the entertainment is awesome, ladyboy singer (who pulled my hubby out the crowed and freaked him and my 5 year old son out (daddys boy) when ladyboy pinned my hubby to the pole and lifted up his shirt - and proceeded to start off off like a strip act lol... it was only for a few seconds, luckily no strip act and it was over in a few minutes, but when my husband came back to the table, my 5 year old son, went over and "protect him" incase the "lady" came back. we all thought it was hilarious, my son is very serious when it comes to his dad which made it even more funnier.
Waterbom - so many people told me to wait til kids are older before I take them. My oldest who is 10 wanted to go so bad, so we decided to try it. glad we did. there is plenty for the young ones to do. we all had a ball. excellent water area for the young ones. my fave is the lazy river. some of the slides look so scary but look like so much fun I will I had the "balls" to try them lol. my hubby and daughter were the daredevils of the day. so glad I went and next time I will purchase a 2 day pass. Its so much better than Perth's adventure word
DRINKS: I am finding happy hour is not happy hour for me anymore lol. the pina colada buckets I enjoy give me a violent heachade so I have stopped those. I was recommended a drink when I tried chunky chunks for the first time. its called bali cider. its a refreshing alcoholic drink. it tastes like flavoured mineral water. doesn't leave you bloated like beers and cocktails. and I get not violent headaches. Have only seen them at chunky chunks and the mini mart next door to dynasty. Havent seen them at supermarkets.
That's about the best of what ive done so far im thinking of venturing out and looking at the beachwalk shopping centre. Im really over shopping but I might go for a sticky beak lol
went to krishnas yesterday - great for gifts, still as cheap as ever. I paid 45,000 for a belt at minimart. same one at krishnas 17,000
off now.... let the day begin
