A tourist approached our table at dinner last night and asked if we lived here, having a dog on a lead at the table may have given it away.

They had rented a house for 2 months and wanted to know if there was anyway to get water, as their landlord wasnt helping. We asked if they meant drinking water, they said, no for showers. We laughed and said wait till it rains. They gave us a blank stare, we explained that after heavy rain you usually get it out of the tap between 6am and 9am, but not much pressure. We also get it from the 2 drums and 4 buckets we leave out when it rains. I was quite surprised that tourists didnt know we were in a water crisis, I mean we havent had water at our house for over 1 year now, nor has anyone of our friends. Last I read it was 1.7 million homes without water and thatbfigure was over a year ago, so we dont complain, we jsut share with our neighbors when we buy a tanker of water and they do the same with us.

Enjoy your hotel swimming pools, flushing toilets and long showers, god forbid you are having baths while here but if you are, have one with a friend.

Just thought I'd post this as I am still shocked that after all this time people are unaware that many live here without running water, and not all can afford to order a tanker at 150,000 for 5000 litres.. .
