I bought a cheap unlocked phone here for about $30 AUD and then put in a sim card in Bali. The guy at the shop (opposite the Jayakarta hotel) put in all my contacts for me and it was that easy and cheap,,,could call home, and america and chat for ages for just a few dollars. I usually put about 50,000rp on the phone to keep me going for a fortnights stay
