TO ALL PARENTS WHO HAVE THEIR CHILDREN IN A SCHOOL IN BALI.
This problem has occurred many times to parents with children in a school, international or local schools alike in Bali.
Somebody called our house and informed my son, that his child was in critical condition in hospital due to an accident in school and that urgency was of the utmost importance. He could hear ambulance sirens in the background during the phone call. Urgent funds where needed for an emergency operation and please send the funds to some account. Because the phone call sounded so real with sirens on the back ground, with the name of his son, the school name and class, our phone numbers and a lot of other detailed information. He tried to call the school, line was busy. We had a doctor friend call the hospital and another friend who lived close to the school in Sanur go to the school and check if this was really happening. All negative, luckily. No money was sent, not that that is important.
We heard that this had happened several times to parents who had their kids in this school and from other people we have heard that this has happened in other schools as well.
Our advise is to ask your kids school if this has happened and if so, have the school report this to the authorities and have them send a notice to all parents.
Hope this doesn't happen to you, as it is an absolute shocking experience.
